Upon arrival, freshly collected tawa-tawa (Euphorbia hirta) are immediately sorted, washed, and dried to prevent degradation of its phytochemicals, most especially flavonoids which appears to be primarily responsible for its antiviral properties. Dried tawa-tawa are then powdered, extracted, standardized, and made into tawa-tawa capsules.
