Su Jing

China has a rich and long history. Ganoderma lucidum has long been part of this history having been recognized for its medicinal purposes and is used since the reign of Emperor Yan. Many records substantiate this as Ganoderma have been focused of many discussions and praise in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its medicinal properties had been subjected to thousand of years of use and were validated by large amount of testimonies, studies and publications.
Su Jing
The issue on the toxicity was laid to rest by Su Jing who wittingly remarked that Ganoderma lucidum is so rare and is very difficult to obtain therefore no one can eat enough crossing its toxicity limits. He pointed out that no one can consume a large amount of Ganoderma for a long period of time as its supply is way lower than the demand for it. One may die searching for the herb before the fungi got him first.
He also debunked the misinformation found in the Shen Nong’s Herbal Classic that specific Ganoderma strains can only be found in Specific places. He pointed out that although specific colors of Ganoderma can be found in these specific places, it is not limited to the mentioned mountains. He pointed out that black can be found in Mt. Hua or any other possible places and same applies to other colors of Ganoderma. Su’s observation was validated when other colors had been found in other places not in the mentioned mountain. Different varieties can be found growing wild in different parts of China
