Book of Mountain and the Seas (Warring State Period, 476-221 B.C.)
his is a story which has undergone different variations, eventually made a young princess as the origin of Lingzhi. Emperor Yan has a daughter named Yao Ji who was very clever and beautiful. She was subjected to untimely death before her marriage which made her soul ascend to Yao Mountain. Immediately after her death is the growth of an amazing, shapely bright-colored herb and people believed that the herb Ganoderma is the reincarnation of Yao Ji.
